I had to look it up. A coding format for templates for certain forums, etc. Sorry ilu, I'm no help on that. Haven't had to use it yet.

Now I want to slice them, and want to do make them valid CSS/html coding templates for wordpress and phplinkdirectory.

Yeah, I got it. Can't help yet but I am about to embark on the same adventure. Need to do something different for the blog I want to setup so I am going to have to learn to work with Wordpress's templating system.

Slicing the Photoshop images to put into the different locations on a template will vary depending on the base template you work from. And you can change the sizes of those areas if you need to so that something works better visually. Don't know exactly how yet so I will be interested to see this thread. However, I suspect the answer is a little more complicated than can be answered in the thread. Wordpress has some documentation on building templates for it. Or are you looking for tutorials?

OK, if you have a PSD template, and you want to have it with a valid HTML CSS code, you should not slice the file. Instead you have to code it from scratch. Start with a basic valid HTML/CSS layout and then make it look like the design that you have purchased.

Once you have the layout built then you can add the specific tags to convert it to a wordpress template.

I wouldn't normally suggest this, but I'm interested in the idea ...

Keep in mind that the standards essentially do the following:

1) Ensure that everybody who makes browsers has a crack at displaying their interpretation of the code as the author intended, and

2) Establishes a recognizable series of patterns for everyone who is interested to follow.

Examine the existing templates. Follow their lead ...
