Linda, using exam's suggestion of textpad (which I like to use for some coding) you should be able to search for:
<u><a href
replace with:
<a href
and then search for:
</a></u>
replace with:
</a>
This should only replace the underline tags that surround anchors which is where you can safely remove them and have no bad effect on your page. Have fun!

So what would you do then? A thousand monkeys on a thousand typewriters?

You're silly, I don't use tools either, I have 100 monkeys on 10 typewriters, seems the optimum usage.

there's a time for this and a time for that. tidy html is best done manually until someone like the w3c create a free and easy to use tidying tool - then they could be trusted to update it alongside any standards updates. still - tidy is in the eye of the beholder. if you want it done your way you gotta...

Wing Chun, you might want to be a little more specific in your posts or read a little more carefully. You posted the "never use that tool" comment right behind a few posts about using textpad to do multi page search and replace. Seemed a little silly there as we all misunderstood. You were posting about using tidy HTML tool.
And while I personally would never use it, it has a place just like in this case. Linda wants a nice site but doesn't have the time (and maybe not the geek factor, sorry Linda ) to get that deep into it all. Tidy serves a purpose for her. For myself, I agree, I do it all by hand.

Hey ! I don't have the geek factor, but I do have to time and I prefer to do it by hand as well. I just don't like using "Some" programs that I'm not familiar with for fear, I'll mess up and remove something I didn't want to, then I'd have to redo "everything" by hand.

Sorry about that Linda If it makes you feel better I consider you a geek Just not a coding geek. We are an even stranger lot than most and I have no idea why I like that idea.

Oh, grandfathered into the group by love !!
I wish I had the geek brain cells to earn the status !
Maybe someday, I feel like I have learned alot though. 2 years ago, I didn't know any code at all, didn't know what an ip was, and I didn't know the difference between upload and download.
So I've made some progress !! Maybe someday - okay so maybe it'll be way down the road, I'll even be able to offer someone advice that is actually correct (scary huh !!) Then I'll be so proud !!

Considering that everyone else in the thread misunderstood your post in the same way, I think the investment of 5 extra seconds to to add "tidyHTML tool" might have been worth the effort

dude you are so totally trolling, yes?
The computer, the internet, the web pages, the websites -- these are all tools.
Find something more reasonable to be so pure about.

Never used it, barely know what it is, and thus haven't been contributing to the conversation.
