I'm a short drive from Amish country. Fancy tools don't catch my fancy. I can do it by hand, and get better results too.

Microsoft SourceSafe is what I have beenusing for the last 6 or so years. Not free but a great product. There should be free equivalents somewhere on freshmeat or sourceforge.

i believe it was once written by a member of w3c but it's not a sourceforge project whilst still under copyright w3c license.

a common criticism is: HTML Tidy may lead to loss of parts of the originating document if too ill-formed.
