how to link to a certain page and position on a page

i know how to link pages, but how to set it so it drops down to a certain <p> or <h1>?

you have to add an empty link with the "name" attribute on the document...

<p>
<a name="thisposition"></a>
....content...
</p>

then your link can be as follows:
http://mysite.com/mypage.html#thisposition

so if i want to link to a page on dogs...

<a href="dogs.html" title="breeds of dogs" a name="labs">dog breeding</a>

so that would go to the header "labs"?

Give the <p> or <h1> an ID and link to it. For example, if you have a file named index.html with a <p> that you want to jump to:

That's what you do...make sure to have the <a name="labs" /> inside the dogs.html page.
