CSS Help

So I have this problem with a site that I'm working on...

http://www.onesale.com.au/victoria

On the right hand side you'll notice the categories such as Automotive and Building Supplies.

I'm trying to use them as links but I can't get my mouse to hover over them, I can't select the text or click them or anything and I have no idea why...

This is the style code that I used

Code:
#side_bar { float: left; display:block; width: 200px; background: #4F7AE3; left: 50%; position:absolute; margin: 40px 0 0 190px; } #side_bar ul { list-style:none; margin:0; padding:0; border: 5px solid #4F7AE3; } #side_bar a { background: #2A4CA3; color:#FFFFFF; font-size:0.85em; display:block; text-decoration: none; margin:2px 2px; padding: 8px 10px; } #side_bar a:hover { background: #FFFFFF; }
Any ideas anyone?

It looks like its caused by:
Code:
#side_bar { float: left; display:block; width: 200px; background: #4F7AE3; left: 50%; position:absolute; margin: 40px 0 0 190px; }
In particular
Code:
#side_bar { left: 50%; position:absolute; margin: 40px 0 0 190px; }
I'm not certain which part atm though.

Actually. I've just tried removing all other HTML from your page - leaving just this in the HTML body:
HTML Code:
<div align="center"> <div id="side_bar"> <ul> <li><a href="#10">Automotive</a></li> <li><a href="#3">Building Supplies</a></li> <li><a href="#2">Electronics / Computers</a></li> <li><a href="#1">Fashion and Accessories</a></li> <li><a href="#4">Florists / Flowers</a></li> <li><a href="#9">Furniture</a></li> <li><a href="#14">Health &amp; Lifestyle</a></li> <li><a href="#19">Home Appliances</a></li> <li><a href="#8">Home Entertainment</a></li> <li><a href="#17">Homewares</a></li> <li><a href="#20">Household Services</a></li> </ul> </div> </div>
The links then behave properly using your existing CSS. So it looks more like interference from some other element/CSS?

The #small_text DIV element is "covering up" the #side_bar element. You can see it for yourself by assigning the "z-index:99;" attribute to the #side_bar element's style instructions. That will bring it "on top" of #small_text, and you can click away ...

BTW, check out the site in Internet Explorer v.6 ... YOIKS! Have fun ...

Don't say that StupidScript. I've got it working fine in FF & IE7. I don't have a IE6 installed anywhere... Hmm

Thanks btw, I changed the Z-Index and it worked great
