how to add code to my webpage

i want to add some lines of code to my web page but do not know how.
have downloaded a few html editor programs , and ftp explorer but don't know how to replace my old web page code with the new code.
i run firefox and can read page code under view/page source but can't alter the code at all from there. Uploaded my new code into an online aol file with ftp explorer but have no idea how i'm meant to get that page as my new page. any1 who can explain how to do it?

You need to have access to your account. What host to you use, and what's your web URL

did they give you an account and password?

then you could probably connect to the ftp like this:

Address: ftp://www.earnwhileusleep-package.com
User: your user name
Pass: your pass
Port: 21

i can log in with ftp for my online aol folder fine which is members.aol.com.

The website i have was not created by me , it's a template type website where i just alter it via a contol panel ( change pictures, reviews, products etc.)
i guess the people who created the site would have to give me there log in details? username and password, does this seem about right to u? and i guess theres a big chance they won't be able to do that.

See if there is an icon to view the source code. I have not used aol before so I cannot give you director instructions. If there is an icon, click on it and then copy and paste your line of code within the specific area.

can't find code button in aol.
have code in firefox under view/source but you can't alter it.
i can open code as a text file in IE7 and alter it and save it but when it is reloaded it doesn't have any extra code.
There is an option to edit with html-edit in IE7 where you can add new code.
But how do i make that code replace the original code?
sorry to be a pest but knowing how to do this will help me a lot.
spoke to live help with my affiliate control panel and she said hire a webmaster, lol, at this end.
