Creating a blog: XML, XSLT
Hi there,
I hoping for some guidence or recomendations on this matter hope you WebMasters out there can steer me in the correct direction.
I have started creating a blog using XML and displaying it using XSLT, however I need to keep my original page layout of the rest of my site (portfolio, resume etc).
How can I go about implementing this?
If you know of a method used over XML/XSLT to create a custom made blog I'd love to hear about it.

Sorry Butterfly, but the details are a little slim to offer any help. Personally, I have just chopped up WordPress and completely revamped the look and feel for a unique template and matched it to the style of the rest of the site. If you are looking for the experience of writing the code then good for you. I do that a lot. However, if I'm not looking for the experience then I try to leverage what's stable and out there already so I don't have to reinvent the wheel. Good Luck.

Hey Taltos, thanks for your reply.
I came across WordPress for the first time last week, I didn't give it a second thought though because I thought it was for none programmers (I didn't look into it that far to be honest).
I was looking for the experience of XML and XSLT coding like you said, but I think I'll take a closer look at WordPress, after all to get it to do what you want you have to understand the code, right?
Thanks again

1. Create template pages. Use them for different layouts.
2. Use asp.net + xml + xslt

Thanks for your feedback Costin, very much appreciated.
I really enjoy programming in ASP.NET, the only thing is my FREE host doesn't support it . They basically support (beside HTML etc ) Perl and PHP so I'm quite restricted.
I think I'm just going to create the blog using PHP and MySQL.
Thanks again guys

Good luck with that, dude!
I'd like to see how your blog would look like, 'cause I'm currently working on a blog engine too

I personally think that is much better to store the files in a DB instead of having them in XML files, so yes, I'm using a MS SQL DB.
If you want to have a look to a blog engine using XML, I can give you a link so you can download it and have a look at it.
One small note, that one is coded in C#.
