weird symbol showing up

The symbol 
is showing up in my template files for oscommerce, the symbol is no where to be seen in the code but is showing up on both files I have uploaded when viewed in the browser- im clueless to what it could be- maybe a database problem? or something corupt during ftp upload? i've tried uploading it through a few differnt ftp programs and all do the same though.

it is in 2 places, the top left corner of the table and the very top left corner of the page.

if you showed me the PHP code of your page i could probably figure it out

its not in the code anywhere... I figured it was some database or upload issue of some sort, theres another post on here someone asking about it too, and he saved with microsoft expression, and thats what I used to- so maybe theres some problem with saving php files in expression? but now how do I get rid of it? i re-saved through dreamweaver, re-uploaded..etc..etc..
