Using CSS for background images in FW created table

I did the layout in FW, the exported it into a table on my page to keep it centered.

I have been assigning classes with background images. This has worked for .leftborder, .rtborder and .bgmain in testing. When I check the site in Firefox or IE, I don't get the border images

I have tried to do this for white background. I tried using an image 2 pixels wide & the exact hieght and by just specifying the background color.

Neither of these have worked in testing... Any Ideas...

Do I need to go back into Fireworks and build out the elements separately.
i.e. the header and top nav bar and the side nav bar with pop-ups.
Then just import those into a cell or layer.

The good news is this is for an intranet site and users only have access to IE. So if there is an IE only fix, that would work.
Here is the site.

Thanks in advance for any help..

The problem is your URLs for these images in you CSS code.
Code:
url(../../My%20Documents/CMH20Intranet/navtest_r6_c11.gif);
I understand it is Intranet, so shouldn't the paths to these images be absolute (C:\\Windows\My Documents\CMH20Intranet/navtest_r6_c11.gif)? I'm not sure, but I know what you have is incorrect.

workaround

The links should be absolute, they are relative b/c I was playing on my home computer w/no site defined.

I think I fixed this issue with background by using div tags, then importing my fireworks html in pieces.
But now my new issue is keeping that side nav static when you add more content to the main body area.

Here is the link:

surely there is a way to do this with css.

Thanks!

have you tried to wrap your menu in a div and float it to left while wrapping the content in an other div and float it to right (or left) ?

If you're not comfortable with this, why not using a simple table with two columns?
