So How many of you experts........

are really able to design a pretty fancy website based in html and css, off of pure memory?? Or does everybody, including pros, refer to a manual at all times?? Just curious, as I am very new to learning html and css and am loving it so far, but it just seems like a WHOLE LOT of language if you were to memorize every single thing.

Nuroo, designing the first website is pretty hard, but the second will be easier. When you will create your 10th you won't need to open the w3schools everytime, since you will know a lot of css and html coding rules. The more you code the wider your knowledge will be

I remember watching a video on coding for php and they instructor was showing how to type things out in the first lesson. Then he showed you how to quick click and made 70% of the codes fill in automatically.

From that I wonder how many people could write a code free hand.

It's just a matter of practice, time, effort, and patience.

Some memory, some looking at W3C, some copying code from elsewhere in my site

No matter how expert you're, every now and then you'll need to lookup the manual, but as you get more experienced the frequency will come down.

Seems to be the expert posters that are the ones posting here!

I'm pretty much the same as everyone else who has posted. Once you do it, and do it again and again, you started getting it. A reference manual should always be handy though, because you never know when you just might forget something!
