Png and IE 6

Yes I know, old topic same problem. I abhor IE6 and wish people would just chuck it.

Anyway I have a CSS controlled layout. The navbar consists of javascript controlled png rollover images with a fading, transparent edge. In IE6 I get that ugly grey box. I wanted to use supersleight as an IE6 fix. It seems pretty straight forward stuff, but it's not working for some reason. I have placed the script and the x.gif in my root folder.

Here's the header code:

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" />
<title>testing</title>
<link href="zumacssbg.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
<script type="text/JavaScript" src="rollover.js"></script>
<!--[if lte IE 6]>
<script type="text/javascript" src="supersleight.js"></script>
<![endif]-->
</head>

As I have placed the x.gif in my root folder I didn't make any alterations in the supersleight.js file.
Has anyone encountered similar problems? Any idea how to fix it?

Why IE6? It's at v7 now and v8 BETA 1 is already out.

Yeah I know, but looking at my stats at almost half of all visitors are still using IE6 and I'd like them to be able to see the site properly.

There are many problems with png's and transparency in IE6. One of which, by the way you described your problem, is that it's have jagged edges. There isn't a fix for this in IE6, that I know of. IE7 is the fix really.

If this isn't the problem, can you show us a screen shot?
