W3C Validation Errors

Hi friends,

I have a wordpress blog hosted on a domain mydomain.info
As of now I have no posts! Not even the sample post because I have deleted it.

When I entered mydomain.info for w3c validation it returned six errors. Now my query is which file should I see to rectify these errors because this is not just a website where we have only one index.html This is a WP blog and I have many php files. I dont know which file to see for rectifying these w3c validation errors. However the template which I have used for my blog has passed the validation! (that is what have been mentioned on the site where I have downloaded it from) But not my blog as a whole.

Any advise? Thanks!

This will be a little tough to problem solve for you without the url.

Idea:
If you are getting an error that the <ul> tag is not closed, then that's probably in your sidebar. You will have to look through the sidebar file within your template to find the error.

Sometimes when you validate a file, you will have lots of errors to start with. If you tackle the list from the top down you could solve a bunch of errors with one fix as the validator gets confused from a previous error.

One thing you might not have done, or your theme anyway.

People use wordpress tags willingly, but they generate <li>s and <ul>s themselves.
Go through your code, and see where your missing it.

And the validation should give you the exact line of the error anyway.

He said he didn't have a single post.

Second, validation line specifications are never correct. That's just right from the source, but the template files and stuff are scattered, therefor being no help.

Validation line specifications refer to the produced html file.
View your page source, your error is on the line there.

Scattered files aren't going to have the same line, yes.
However, if you look at the error in your source, I'm certain you should be able to find the error in your scattered files if you were smart.
