problem with accents, URL don't work

Hello...

in OS Commerce, when I write the french translation of the Categories/products, I have to put accents such as "é" and "è".

So everything seems OK, I open my Internet explorer browser, go to the menu of my website, and yes, it's written as I entered it. BUT, when I click on the link, the page will be redirected to mainpage. Looks like Internet explorer has problems with my accents. What should I change in Os Commerce or in Dreamweaver so that those accents get recognized by IE ?? ( note that the accent is displayed/shown by IE, but the link doesn't work )

Now, if you click on www.tonyshoes.com , i.e the mainpage, then click on "Women's" then click on the "Quebec"flag on the top left corner ( french translation) it will also be redirected to the mainpage, instead of putting the french version of the Women's section : weird

Well, tonyshoes.com does not have accents in their urls/names. If they do have it in their names, which the only one I can see from my brief look was the New Products page, and the link does not have the name in it.

So, you might have to a) have no accents b) adjust your links accordingly to support the accented product/category names.

The reason the links don't work is because URL's are based on Traditional-Western characters. UTF-8 I believe. This does not include accents, therefor browsers do not understand accented text in the URL. So, you would need to encode the code, but I'm not sure if they would work or not.
