is there anyway to find out the width/height of a flash file?

A flash movie you made? You should be able to tell that right in the flash program.

Or am I confused about what you want?

i think i get it, but i'm not sure if there is a way to tell, there has to be with something, just.. i'm not sure what,

I think he wants to have a bunch of flash movies.. probably uploaded by users...and when a link is clicked to view one a window pops up and theres the movie.. is that right? but.. the window needs to be a certain size around the movie.. so the box size is relative to the flash movie
