How hard is it.
I am a begginner PHP'r with limited HTML experience. I am going to create a website based on those ratings sites. Such as amIhotornot.com or nexopia.comI am ready and willing to fork out many hours and hundreds of dollars for books. I am just wondering how much experience it would take approximately for something like the url I mentioned. Thankyou very much.

How easy is that I-Rater to edit.. I do want my own type of rating thing. Here let me spill it out for you so you know what I am talking about.

I want a community where a certain group of people (my site will be music orientated) can get together and post pics, have a forum, talk, msg people, things like that.

Will it be easy to add my own style into the script?

Damn thing won't let me stay logged in so I can't edit I have to keep replying .


Wouldn't it be better for me to learn how to write one of thos scripts? If I spent 4 hours a day reading books/doing lessons. How long do you figure until I could script something like that... Thats all I really wanted to know since I would rather learn it so I can modify it much easier.

For something like that, you may want to use a content management system like PHP-Nuke or even just a phpBB Forum like this one.

As far as coding yourself, I have no idea how long it would take to learn all that. If I was you, I would go with something pre-made.
