<object> </object> area clickable

I have a flash movie defined within the <object> </object> section of a html document. I would like the user to click on the flash movie and then be directed to a web page. Can this be done without modifing the flash source?

If not, is it possible to define the entire html document that this move is playing on as a clickable section where the user would be redirected?

You could use <a href"..."><object></object></a>. Not the best way to do it but it would work as long as there is not getURL() code in the flash file.

Thanks for the info. I tried it and it did not work. Here is my code:

<OBJECT classid="clsid27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000"
codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=4,0,0,0"
ID=ad_banner_example_1 WIDTH=400 HEIGHT=400>
<PARAM NAME=movie VALUE="http://globalworldhosting.net/GLO999997A_cropped.swf">
<PARAM NAME=loop VALUE=true>
<PARAM NAME=menu VALUE=false>
<PARAM NAME=quality VALUE=high>
<PARAM NAME=bgcolor VALUE=#FFFFFF>

Did you create the flash file yourself? Best way to do it is to add the link inside the flash file. I could be possible that there is something in the flash file that is ignoring the click. It used to work with older flash files. Macromedia has gotten a lot smarter with flash. I remember reading an article a few months ago about how you can create your flash files to ignore html so they won't get hijacked from other sites.

Sorry thought this would have helped. If I have time later I can search for a solution for you. Right now I'm swamped.
