Video Card Question.
I think my video card is a running a little hot (it's an ATI 9600xt), because my computer keeps restarting when I play games for more than an hour. So I think I need to get it a new fan. Anyways should I only get a fan or should I get thermal paste too? And are there certain brands I should look for?

That card has a fan on it, I believe.
I think I would check out the power supply fan 1st, then the fan on the processor. What MOBO? Some have utils with them that will give you info on processor temp and fan speed.

Okay, I'll look into it.
About the fan should I just check to make sure it works or it's temp? It's a SiS based motherboard, 651.

Can't you just run it without the case on for a while so that you can monitor whats going on and if any fans seem to be playing up?

Only fans I've ever replaced is power supply. Processor temp problems can cause the same problems. Let us know what you find out.
As far as s/w with the mobo, did you get a CD with it? My intel has monitoring s/w on a CD. I can see temps, voltages, alarm points, fan speed.

Don't think you need to wet your finger to do this dude, I think he should be able to tell by just placing his hand behind it and feeling the air come out unless it's 25watts or something

No. No. No. The wet finger is for the electrical socket on the wall.

NO!!! I was talking about FEELING the air flow! Sheet, if I was going to tell him to stick something in a socket, it would not have been a finger.....

Okay, so the CPU fan seems fine, and so does the video cards, when I'm not really doing anything. When I start up a game, like the Sims2, I can't feel any cold air coming out of the video card, while the CPU fan seems fine.
Also I'm getting the error code:

I cleaned out the fan on the video card, maybe it'll work better now.
EDIT: Nope, it didn't help. I'll try updating drivers.

I only have 2, one on the CPU and one mini-fan on the video card.

If you add a fan for the computer case, it might help with overheating of RAM, CPU and Video Card all at once and fans for your case are super cheap! You should have at least one running, preferrably 2 (One pulling air in and the other pushing it out is ideal).
You can probably get computer chassis fans for about 10-15 bucks each, maybe even cheaper.

Okay, thanks for the info. I'll get a couple fans over the weekend then.
Oh the drivers seemed to help, instead of crashing while I play games, my system just freezes now. It's sort of an improvement. lol.

Ugh, I finally fixed the problem. I decided to go on an uninstalling rampage. I still don't know exactly which program was causing the conflict, but it seems as though one of the programs was screwing with my system.
