My HJT log - what can I remove?

I have 52+ processes running, and I doubt they're all necessary.

This is the HJT log from my brand new notebook. I want to know what I can delete. I've done this before on other computers and deleted stuff myself but since this is a brand new notebook, I am not 100% positive what needs to stay.

It's attached.

Colleen,

You can remove...

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_06\bin\jusched.exe
O4 - Global Startup: Adobe Gamma.lnk = C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Calibration\Adobe Gamma Loader.exe
O4 - Global Startup: Adobe Reader Speed Launch.lnk = C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\Reader\reader_sl.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [LtMoh] C:\\Program Files\\ltmoh\\Ltmoh.exe
(If you don't make/receive calls with the laptop)
O9 - Extra button: Messenger - {FB5F1910-F110-11d2-BB9E-00C04F795683} - C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe
(If you don't use Windows Messenger)
O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Windows Messenger - {FB5F1910-F110-11d2-BB9E-00C04F795683} - C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe
(If you don't use Windows Messenger)

That's about it. There is a lot of stuff running because it is a laptop and that stuff is required for the touchpad, video, etc.

There is also a bunch of Yahoo stuff in there. You can remove it if you don't need it.

NP. Now, don't forget about regular backups on that new baby of yours.

What do you advise would be the best backup method? I need to buy something, don't have anything yet to handle backups.

That depends largely on the collective size of your files.

You can get a 1GB USB memory key for under $100 CAD these days and there are 2GB-4GB models available. This would be my preferred method if your data files fit because it's small and easy to copy the files over.

If you have more than that, then you should look at an external USB hard drive. It will be big and bulky, but it has more space.

I can direct you to free software that will do an automated file copy for you. You can schedule it if the USB storage is always connected. Or, you can manually launch it whenever you want to back your files up.

Yes, please give me a link. Today was the end of my 14 day try out period so I have to keep her now. We have a love/hate relationship, but I don't think it's her fault, some programs I moved over aren't fully cooperating.

This is the direct link to the download
It is their freeware version.

They also have a SE version which copies open files for $25.
Read more about it on their website, here

Just keep in mind that it will run from wherever you first run it. So, before you run it for the first time, put it in the folder that you want it to stay in. This software will run from that folder from then, on. You can then drag a shortcut to your desktop for the purposes of running it quickly.
