Only 2GB of RAM

32 MB Video Memory
WinXP HOME (Not PRO)
This thing sucks all around, doesn't it? I would expect that laptop to be worth $1500 tops. I don't get where they are asking over $7000 for it. Maybe it's $7000 for a box of five of them???

I don't like IBM at all. I find them overpriced.
(Although, not usually as overpriced as the above example, still...)

I have had several thinkpads john and they aren't bad machines at all. Very reliable and good customer support. They are a bit overpriced though for what they offer.

I personally think all PC’s are crap. I have a G4 powerbook. The best for graphic work if that's what you need it for.

I had one and personally I thought it sucked.
It was quick as hell for the time period, but I had so many problems with the power connector and other mics items break on it I would never buy an IBM notebook again.
This was a few years ago so I'm sure they have improved..
I'm trying Dell this time around myself..if they suck next time I will go with a mac. Almost did this time anyways, but Dell's got such great deals going on now I couldn't resist.

I don't know why, but I just don't like Dell for some odd reason. The name, maybe.

Same here, I don't like the name.
But tbh I have a dell desktop that's performed excellently, still running like a champ. My friend just bought 2 Dell desktops after always building his own systems like I myself do and he loves them. Claims he'll never build again.
Plus I hear so many people raving up Dell notebooks, I just simply had to give them a shot.
The main one I bought I also got a 4 year full service warranty on it, accidental damage and even at office/home repair. For that alone I'll gladly take a 'Dell'...
Sick of breaking notebooks before they have been used a fraction of what they should have been.

Most people don't smash their notebooks.
Let us know how your Dell goes once you get it.
I am having no problems with my Toshiba and it never overheats John.

It drank some Irish Cream coffee the other day, I freaked out more than it did, I thought I'd get eletrocuted.
I will definitely let you know. I could just upgrade the ram again if there's any slowness, which is my main concern.

I have had quite a bit of luck with dell's over the years. I know it sounds like I have had a bit of everything over the years, but just for reference, right now on my desk, I am running a compaq, an hp, a sony, and a dell laptop and that is just the laptops on my desk....doesn't include the desktops. Dell has great prices, but their customer service lacks quite a bit. They have outsourced most of the tech support staff and that can be a problem if you need it. My in-laws both work for dell and so I have a bit of familiarity with the back end. The major problem I have with dell is the size of their laptops. They haven't seemed to find a small design that works well for them and I prefer smaller laptops. If anyone is seriously considering buying a dell, they might want to check out fatwallet as I have heard that there is a 40% off coupon code floating around there, I just haven't had the chance to go find it myself.

Definitely Powerbooks. Oh, I guess they're called MacBook Pros now. By far the best hardware and of course the software's far better than Windows. I used Thinkpads for a while and they're pretty good. For non-Macs I think Thinkpads have been the best for a long time.

Those new ones look nice...that's what I was originally going to go for until I noticed Dell having such a good deal i couldn't pass it up.
One $750 coupon off one notebook I bought, another $300 off the other notebook I bought..Plus free upgrade to a gig of ram, and no interest to 07! Hell I can wait and pay for the damn things in a few months if I want to. Free shipping, etc, Ended up picking up one system built more than the mac version and another close to the mac specs for just slightly over the cost of one mac and a 4 year full warranty..
Had to go with the dell this time, but might pick the mac up later this year. Thinking of getting rid of most of the desktops and using them simply for network storage.

But Apple's reliability is superb. I'd much rather pay the extra for the hardware quality than buying some frankenstein of a computer from Dell with parts from the cheapest dealers in the world. To me the extra cost is worth it for the quality I get back. Plus if something really does go wrong Apple's support is top notch and there's an Apple store next to my job.

I've heard the same from countless people who own Dells.
The mac v dell really isn't even something to compare as either you like a mac based system or a pc based system...
I'll try my dells, and possibly get a mac to play around with later...
I do love the looks of the mac's power connector, great idea they had there. something I've wished notebooks would have for years.
