You may have a problem with that part. They are worth their weight in gold.

Its to do with the way IBM did the bios passwords on think pads. Basically if you forget the bios password its a motherboard replacement on a lot of IBM laptops, I have had several long conversations on the phone with IBM engineers and there is one chip that could be changed but is soldered to the board so its a no go.

I was quoted a price about double the cost of the laptop for a replacement motherboard because an idiot client set and forgot his bios password a few days after getting a brand new laptop. The IBM warrenty didnt cover it but they client had a complete managed service agreement with us so we had to buy him another brand new laptop. You guessed it the second one wasnt an IBM!

I know what you mean, but it was'nt the password, the machine just died. Only a week after the warrenty ran out..........

mmmmmmmmmmmm.......

I'm still searching though.
