Laptops! What do you use laptop for?

So it seems a lot of you are getting new laptops. I just got my new laptop (Dell XPS) and got to thinking it would be interesting to know what you guys/gals use your laptops for?

Do you use your laptop for travel only? Desktop replacement?

Do you take your laptop war driving? LOL.


I use my laptop when I go out of town... In hotels, on the road (movies sometimes). I use it to keep track my e-mails, and server status (downtime). I sometimes will use it for games if I`m board or use it to browse online when watching TV but not often.

Hopefuly I will have GPS and desk for the truck to use it as a huge GPS system when driving/traveling far

What are your laptop uses?

I use my laptop for everything that I use my computer for also. I have photoshop and all I need installed on it. Except for games. I use my laptop for games and don't use the other computers for games. Well, I only play one game, I'm beta testing a huge game for Microsoft and use my laptop for this as I move around a lot and can play while I'm waiting in the airport.

I use my laptop mostly when I'm out of town.

I travel most of the week every week, so my new laptop will do a little of everything, but most of the time function as my work laptop. It has to be powerfull enough to actually function as a server for my company's software and most importantly, it has to be small and lightweight with good battery life so that the 5 hours a day I spend in airports, it is useful there. Old laptops in my house usually just turn into desktops once I get a new one.

My laptop is for Travel and 'living room' TV watching. Basically its used for browsing and the occasional word processing only.

I have a Gateway 7405, and am quite impressed with it. They have really stepped up the quality on their laptops. Some specs:

AMD 64bit 3200
Radeon 9600 128mb vid card
8x DVD R/RW
512mb ddr ram
Widescreen monitor, great quality

It can run some pretty high end games, which is nice when traveling.

This is not the ideal travel laptop, as it weighs in at about 8.9 lbs The battery life isn't great, but that's the tradeoff I guess. I mostly use it to work in my preferred home office (in front of the TV on the couch).

I use my laptop for school, travel, and alot of times V7N when I am laying in bed. Soon I will be selling my desktop and will switch over to the laptop for everything.
