HP recalls laptop batteries

For those of you stuck with a crappy HP notebook.
Quote:
In its second battery recall in only six months, Hewlett-Packard has issued a worldwide recall for 15,700 laptop Chinese made batteries which can pose potential fire hazard because of overheating.

In October 2005, HP issued a similar recall for over 130,000 batteries used in similar model laptops. The recall issued on April 20 includes HP Pavilion (dv1xxx,ze2xxx), Compaq Presario (V2xxx, M2xxx) and HP Compaq (nx48xx) models.

Last year's recall also involved the HP Pavilion and Compaq Presario families of laptops but many more models were affected.

HP computers suck - seriously, it's just not laptops. To be fair HP aquired compaq whose machines were below standard before HP took them over! My first PC and laptop were Compaq & HP now I have a solid and reliable Sony Vaio.

I have a 5 y/o HP desktop. No problems with it, except it can't handle my boyfriends intense sessions with porn surfing, but you'd think he'd expect that with all the pop ups and huge videos, huge images. ETC.

Oh so I guess you're porn surfing too... the poor weasel.

Problems like this can plague any manufacturer. Dell recently had a recall of the power supply for certain notebooks. It seems they would occasionally just blow up.

That's what happens when one computer is assembled from parts made all over the world. One computer can literally have parts from 30 different countries. All the big boys sell frankencomputers. That's how they get and stay big.

This isnt the first time with Dell either. I knew someone on their helpdesk who told me stories of people calling in saying the power supply would just break into flames - this was about 6 or so year back.
