SSI Alternative When Using Different Servers?
Hi,
I'm a newbie here, and am hoping someone can help me solve an odd problem that probably (hopefully) has a simple answer.
I work for an internet marketing company, and have a new affiliate that actually gives us a custom look site for our own domain, but hosts it on their site, so that all updates are automatic from their database, etc.
The parent site will allow us to add other scripts, ads, banners, whatever to the page if we want, but we have to email them to get them to do it and they are very slow.
We would like to be able to have different ads running vertically down the left side and horizontally towards the bottom, but be able to change them out easily whenever we want.
Normally to accomplish this, we use SSI... but as I understand it, to use SSI, the site and the include files have to be located on the same server. In this case the main site is actually hosted on another server. Basically we want to email the parent company and hosts some code to place on the page that references (the way SSI would) information from one of our own servers, so that we can change things out as we please, without having to email these people all the time and have them tell us that it will be a week before they can get to it.
Does my question even make sense?
Please help if you can!!!
Thanks,
~Randy
