Do you use special software to burn or the built in Windows XP ability?

If you use special software (Nero or Roxio or ???), there's probably just a setting for disc size that needs to be changed.

If it's the built in functionality of Windows XP, it should automatically recognize the DVD size.

What version of Nero is that you have?

For now I'll suspect you are using Nero 7 - if thats the case get the full manual from http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/User_Guides.html

Make a print out of the manual and it should give you what you need.

It's an LG and it was made in august of 2005. Thats all i know, no manual came with it. Just the burner and the cd. I've got roxio now though, and i've figured out how to burn and whatnot. But I'm getting an error every time when I try to burn "opening project failed" and then an error code 0x80045018 But I guess that's a whole other thread is it?

No it should be ok to keep everything under this thread.

Some questions that are important.

What version of Roxio are you using? Also the version of Windows is very important.

Are you still trying to burn those mpeg files to a DVD disc? Can you burn anything else to a CD-R and DVD+R such as audio or data?

Sorry the questions but just trying to get an understanding of how your setting this up.

No, thank you for being so patient and trying to help. Roxio Easy media creator 7. And Im running on windows xp. Yes I'm trying to burn the mpeg files to a dvd-r disc. And yes, I burn audio and data on cd-r's all the time. And it works on dvd-r's too although I've never tried this with roxio yet since i just got it recently.

Well your setup seems fine.

Someone posted the same problem over on the Roxio boards which had over 500 users views before someone actually responded. That would tell me its a problem that nobody has a clue on what the cause is.

Read the Roxio post and look for the post that suggests uninstalling Roxio using roxiozap and reinstalling the software, probably a long shot but it could work.

I would also like to add that if you are attempting to run any other applications during the burn process it could be causing this error. Burning DVD's takes up a lot of memory and more importantly system resources, so make sure everything else is shut down when you begin to burn.
