Email & ISP Question

Ok, so my ISP gives 10mb for the main email. I use Outlook to open my emails. I usually get small emails here and there, but I recently got a bunch of large emails and my ISP sent me an email saying that my email is getting full.

Here's my question: how do I "download" my emails. Are they downloaded as soon as Outlook Send/Receive receives them?

It sounds like your ISP is keeping a copy of the message on their server, under your account.

You should be able to log into your account via their home page which will allow you delete those messages on the server.

Also in you online account look for the option keep copy of email on server (or something like that) and disable it. This way once you use Outlook to send/recieve the email will not be stored online. I thought Outlook also had this option but I cant seem to find it.

If you cant log onto your account online contact the ISP tech support and ask them to access the mail server to delete the messages from your account. Not all ISP's are willing to do this but it can be done. Its important to know if they can access the mail server for you with your permission they can read all your mails. Depending on what kind of emails you have you may want to consider if you trust the tech support agent or not - people will nosey if given the chance.

It's in the advanced properties of the e-mail account setup in Outlook.

Tools > E-Mail Accounts > View Or Change Existing E-Mail Accounts > Highlight The E-Mail Account And Click "Change" > "More Settings" Button > "Advanced" Tab > Uncheck "Leave A Copy Of Messages On The Server"

Here's the thing. When I log into the account there is nothing. So I guess they aren't saving them.

Thanks, I'll check this out. But I don't think there's a copy on the server because of my above post.

Maybe it was an isolated event, then. Maybe they allow you 10MB TOTAL storage. If I send you 2 e-mails with a 5mb attachment each, you're full already.

I think you should just get the emails off your server more often. You won't have this problem.
