Problems with new hard drive

So I got a bigger hard drive than planned because of a good deal. I ended up getting a Seagate 250GB but my computer won't recognize it. From my research, I think it's because I'm running Windows 98 (yes I know...) and the hard drive is too big for it.

http://www.seagate.com/support/kb/di.../os/win98.html is the closest but is about 137GB hard drives tops.

How do I get my computer to recognize the hard drive?

It seems like you'll have to partition it no matter what.

Yep did you not want to partition it DOS? why not make 2 100 gig partitions and a 50 gig partition?

So then it'll appear as if I have three new drives? That's fine with me. I'm just checking out the first link now and I'll try to do what it says and see how that goes.
