Cannot reply emails in Outlook

Dear all,

After I imported all the folders and mails from Outlook Express into Outlook, something strange happened. When I click on some emails to reply, the "To" field shows the name of the person, and it doesn't allow me reply unless I replace the name with some email address. However, some of them do work and all the new emails arrived can be replied without a problem as well. How do I fix this?

I also would like to know how to export all the rules from Outlook Express.

Thanks in advance,

Clark

with exactly what you are doing. The reason this occurs is that express uses an "external" address book. Outlook's address book is integrated. I.E. The fields do not match up precisely. It sucks, but just type in they address.. and after that you should be fine.

What version of Outlook are you running anyway? I have had this only happen with office 2000

On your question about the rules...

In Outlook Express, the rules are stored in registry keys and M$ didn't provide a simple way to export them. There are utilities online that will. You will have to search for one.

In Outlook, depending on the version, you can import/export rules, but you need to check them afterwards. There is a bug that sometimes turns rules off (deactivates) them after they've been imported into a new system. You'll also have to check all the folders to make sure they exist in the new Outlook PST file.
