Just BASIC
Would you like to learn a programming language? Or maybe you already know BASIC, and would like to put some fun back into it. Just BASIC v1.01 is a user friendly compiler I found while searching for well, a compiler. Its free, its easy, and its fun to use. While it lacks the power of api and dll calls, don't count it out. With a little imagination, you can write some awsome apps with it. I use it alot. Its fun to use and has a huge online community for showing off your programs, or asking questions if you have a problem. It has an extensive help file and a very good tutorial, so even if you've never heard of the BASIC language before, you'll be writing programs in no time. Its a wonderful tool for the beginning or hobbyist programmer, and best of all, its free..

c'mon, Just BASIC may have been a good idea 10 - 15 years ago.
How about some real, professional level programming, and also for free:
The all new Turbo C++, Turbo Delphi, Turbo Delphi for .NET and Turbo C# include 200+ pre-built drag-and-drop components providing everything you need to start real development today

I did not say anywhere that this is my software. Just Basic was developed in 1995 by Carl Grundel. I agree that the Visual Basic ide is more advanced, and also, ALOT more expensive.
BASIC is a programming language that was developed a long time ago and it is still used today. When you program with Visual Basic, what language do you think you are using? There is a reason its called Visual Basic.
Those turbos are great development tools, but, they are only free to try, and alot harder to learn on.
I put this link here mainly for beginning programmers or someone who wanted a fun and easy to use compiler. Maybe spark some interest that may well lead to bigger things. I really wasn't expecting it to turn into a sophmoric, my ide is better than your ide contest. If you don't like it, or you think the one you have is better, by all means stick with it. I wasn't trying to persuade anyone to give up their ide for Just Basic, I was providing a link to a learning tool that I found useful.

You should read the turbos' EULA.
The free ones are free and they do not expire. They can be used also for commercial development.

I read over the specs for the turbo explorer, their security is pretty tight, which in these days of software piracy I can't blame them, and the explorer version is stripped down a bit from the professional version, which does cost, but they sound like they would be good development tools.
C++ and c# are very good languages to learn if you plan on working in a team enviroment, and if you learn them first, you will be alot better off. I learned basic first, then studied c and c++, they are NOTHING alike. And it makes it a little more difficult to wrap your head around oop programming after using the sequential programming practices that basic utilizes. C++ is alot like the java language which is used to make interactive web sites, with a few differences. So if you learn c++, you will be learning java in the process. But, as far as computer languages go, the old adage different strokes for different folks can apply here. So, I'd just find one that you are comfortable with and spend a few years learning it, or you can spend 10 to 20 years learning a variety of languages. Once you have the grasp of one, it makes the rest of them a bit easier to follow. So good luck and happy coding, no matter what ide you are using...
