Active X install probs

I cannot install adobe active x flash reader for some bizarre reason. I believe I have checked the correct internet options but my computer will not download it. any suggestions??

Not exactly sure what that is but where are you trying to download it from?

some sites I go to a window pops up and prompts me to install or not the active x flash player download. sometimes a yellow bar would appear across the top of a webpage instructing to download it as well. nothing will work for me

Can you take a screenshot? I'm not sure if you're talking about the ad which usually install spyware or something else.

Never install anything related to active-x from insecure sites. Infection via active-x is most common infection.Some time they prompt to install codec, sometime flash player, sometime something different.
