I disabled Windows Aero and, damn, what a difference it makes!

Anybody have any solid figures on what kind of resources Aero uses as compared to having Aero disabled?

It depends on if you have a good graphics card or not. If you have a uuber basic one it'll hurt performance, if you have anything made in the past 2 years (like it was new 2 years ago) then it shouldn't be eating any resources.
