Satellite Laptop...

Hi,

I'm glad to hear your enthusiasm with Satellite. How long have you had it?
Do you have the 32 or 64 bit Vista?

Scott

My Story..

Here it goes, I've also got a Tosh Laptop here are the specs:
Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 Gigs of Ram, 170GB Hard Disk etc..

So I bought it with Windows XP Media Center with a free Upgrade to Windows Vista Home Premium 32 Bit.

Now to me Toshiba had this wrong and were being lazy, a 32Bit Operating System on a 64Bit processor?

So I went out and bought the 64BIT home premium and its amazing, I have no problems at all.

I wouldn't change it for anything all my software runs fine, I really can't complain about one single thing. I even have managed to get all the drivers with a little work.

I'm going to buy a new laptop in the next month or so... I'm going with 64 bit, but not Windows.

I'm going to go with a 64 bit Fedora 7 and virtualize any slow 32 bit programs to a 32 bit Operating System.

But them again I made a deal with the computer gods, so it's my destiny not to run into any problems.

THAT's what I'm talking about! Yeah, baby!

If you have visited this site yet, and you're in the market for a new Linux laptop, you should ... Linux Rules! (They'll even throw in dual boot Linux/XP for a measly $175 extra.)

These days all major hardware producers have drivers for 32 and 64 bit versions of Vista.

64bit

Hey guys,

I'm now running 64bit edition of VISTA and I can tell you - the difference is huge. I have ASUS X53KA laptop with 4GB ram and Athlon64 TK57 2cell processor, and I can tell that using this version of VISTA(64 bit ultimate) versus 32 bit same version of VISTA is much faster and much stable. Moreover, 32bit version used to have some bugs on my laptop - like taskbar going crazy, after opening 6 programs or so.
What I like about VISTA, that despite very poor ASUS driver support I got all needed drivers for my laptop and got it fully working after WINDOWS UPDATE. After update, all hardware was working - except XD card reader, while SD reader worked fine, what included ATI video card, audio card, modem, wireless, lan, card readers except XD, camera and other. Interesting, that ASUS doesn't even have 64bit drivers on their site, so I don't know where from Microsoft have these drivers. So my impression so far is pretty good with 64bit version of VISTA, as I like working with many programs simultaneously - It works fast and stable.

Auris
