Used Norton before, but as someone said before its a resource hog.
I dont really have an anti virus on my computer - No need. If you dont go on 'dodgy' websites, or are stupid enough to open attachments and such, then you dont really need it; just update your OS to its latest versions, patch it up and dont do anything stupid.
On my other computer though I use Panda Anti Virus. Very handy and works better then other anti virus programs.

The problem is you never know which websites will be "dodgy". I was surfing for Halloween party plans once and a site tried to download some nasty stuff on my CPU.

I don't use antivirus under Linux. I ran windows for 12 years and didn't use antivirus either. I can't ever remember getting a single virus or spyware ever. All you have to do is not run fun.exe from some random guy that emailed you, and not install every activex control you can find. I did use Hijackthis/rootkit revealer every once in a while just to be sure.

I use four free firewall, antivirus and antispyware packages which have been installed for six months and I am very happy with the protection they give me. You can download them for free if you follow the link - I get no affiliate income from any of them ....

I use AVG have for years, I used to, once upon a time be a computer tech, as for Norton Antivirus I recommend it to noone, it is and always has been one of the clunkiest and most resource dependent of them all. Years ago, back in the mid 90's you had Nortons and you had Mcafee's here in the states, Mcafees was the best resource wise but there were always a few that one would get the other wouldn't, probably still the same now adays. I use AVG mix that with ZoneAlarm firewall, and an occassional running of spybot and adaware and you have absolutely no worries.
Oh, and forgot, they are all free :-)

Like to put in a cheer for Panda if you are looking for one to buy. Otherwise I have Clamwin and Spybot. If you can put up with all the intrusions then WinPooch is a reasonable guardian of your registry.

Nod32
I have been looking for a new program to replace my Norton when my subscription runs out. I have heard much about Nod32. I like the reviews I have gotten so far and downloaded their Free version today. So far everythings seems to run a lot quicker.

well i find norton a bit slow, in my opinion, most of the antivirus softwares are good if u update it regularly. i tried changing my antivirus software in the beginning as per suggestions from others, but after all those, i think even free antivirus softwares work better than paid one... anyway who'll pay for what's available for free...

I have used a lot of anti-virus softwares. Norton 2005, McAffe ,AVG and most recently Kaspersky. But none have of them have provided full security to me. I had Kaspersky and my whole boot sector got infected. So now I have switched back to McAffe. At the moment its going on fine.
