hard drive problem
i have tried this a few times and dont know what to do. im downloading a 8 gigabyte file from online onto a torrent client (not illegal stuff). when it starts downloading it on to my harddrive the client says your hard drive will not let this be done because of the size of the file. so basicly its saying my harddrive says no because this is to big. how to i change the permission?

Well, it seems you hard drive is running out of space.
It's not a matter of permission, it's a matter of capacity. Easy solution: buy an external harddrive. They're good to have around.

As long as there is enough space on the Hard Drive it should download. More storage space required

2 reasons I can think of:
- you're short on disk space
- you're running win9x, or XP with FAT32 (4GB file limit) instead of NTFS. In the first case, you need to upgrade your Windows, in the latter you need to convert to NTFS.

Damn I recently bought a 400GB external harddrive. And I formatted it to fat.
Totaly forgot about this. Recently I wanted to copy a 9GB file onto the drive and I had the same problem.
Thanks. I overlooked this. I also thought it was a problem with the drive.

from command line:
CONVERT C: /FS:NTFS
where C is your drive letter.
you will be asked a couple more questions, answer Y to all.
If this is a system drive you willl be asked to reboot, and the conversion should start before you boot back in win.

Its up to you what you want to put for the volume label. Its basically just giving your hard drive a name and is usually useful if you have more than one hard drive so you can distinguish between them

in command line type:
vol and hit ENTER
You will get output similar to this:
C:\>vol
Volume in drive C is Local Disk
Volume Serial Number is 682B-A31F
In the above example Local Disk is the volume label. Use it with previous instructions.
