New "Used" Laptop Question, well 2 questions.
Hi all,
Recently purchased a new "Used" Laptop. Its a HP NC6000 Business notebook with Windows XP Professional, Intel Pentium M processor 725 – 1.6GHz, 2MB L2 cache, 400MHz Front Side Bus (FSB), 60GB Hardrive, 2048-MB (333-MHz) DDR SDRAM, Centrino Wireless Lan stuff, Bluetooth stuff, DVD, CD-RW stuff, and some other deals on it.
First off, we need an ac/dc adapter for the vehicle for when we go on trips in the rv and what not. I was told one, you need the 100 dollar plus adapter to insure it doesn't do damage to your laptop, and I was told as long as it puts out the correct voltage and amps and junk, a generic is fine.
So now I'm confused, do I need a 100 plus dollar one, or can I go with a 50 dollar generic one. I want to get a mouse for it too, the little pad makes me crazy, I've never had a laptop before so I'm not used to it.
My other question, since it was a refurb from a small business man and not a company, how do I check to make sure that there are no keystroke, password stealing trojan programs on there. I ran my anti virus stuff, put firewall and anti virus on it, put spybot on it and ran that. What else can I do to check it.
I haven't done any bank or other transactions like that on it, but still I want to check it to be sure.
Thanks,
Linda
