Paypal fees have gone through the roof?
I have upgraded from unverified to verified and my paypal fees are like 30 cents for each transaction which is usually like $1. WTF? Why is the fee so high?

That sounds like a very good deal! Maybe you could also sell me a banner spot in the header for lets say $0,03? I would make you so rich!

Okay $0.04. I'll tell all my friends about this great website of yours so it will get even more links! It must be so popular and must pass so much link juice when you have 500.000 links on it!
You must also make alot on adsense when you have so much traffic! It would be like 1000per day?!

I got this great idea for your website! Why dont you make a link cloud, they make so much money! You could earn like 0.00003 per link on your website, and there are enough fools who would buy a link!
Heck, even I would buy a link on a link cloud website!
Do the math, you can have an endless amount of links on one website!

To get this back towards the topic a bit, PayPal charges $0.30 plus 2.9 percent for payments. If you're transferring money in and out of your account to other accounts of yours (like at a bank, I'm pretty sure it doesn't work to another PayPal account since you're only supposed to have one (I think)) then there's no fee.
$0.33 for a dollar payment. Which does suck when you realize that PayPal is getting 1/3 of your money. But they have to make a living too.
Since this amount bothers you, see if there's a way you can have people pay your more money at once. That'll save you a little bit.

I agree as far as I am aware, paypal charge a fixed fee per transaction and a percentage.
This means that small amounts have a hefty charge but it is not so bad on larger payments.
Personally I understand that paypal need to make money but feel it should be one charge or the other. Thing is paypal is currently one of the best online paying methods, so we are pretty stuck till someone new comes along and builds popularity. Should not be long now till someone gets irritated and does something about it!

Just use moneybookers, buyer or payee pays the fees. There good and only drawback is the card verification. It takes a lil time tho if your too shy to call your card company to get the sum to confirm your card.

you are going to pay a transaction fee(fixed) and a % depending on who you use just about anywhere. you can use the google checkout for free until the end of 2007. their fees are slightly lower than paypal's initial fees but as much as i love the goog i am not a big fan of checkout yet.

Plus there's the problem of the other side of the transaction. The fact that I'm ready to trust another company with my money doesn't mean that my customers will be.

BTW chum.
My advice is don’t offer words for $1 or less on ur lil word cloud site. Such a cheap offer does not excite anyone to buy your words because they will treat it as a useless investment, specially for a pr3 or a pr4 site.
Just my 2cents.
And to be honest, everyone knows how word clouds work, u put like 20-30 links of ur own then tell people the 30 are pre-paid for so go ahead and pay too, it doesnt work like that, people arnt dumb u know.
Not saying that's what you've done, i'm just giving u a heads up
