Nearly half of the pregnant teens in China's financial hub, Shanghai, met their partners on the Internet, state media said on Tuesday.

Zhang blamed the situation on adult Web sites, videos and books and appealed to parents, teachers and society at large to pay more attention to sex education.

I'm not too surprised. Given how China is trying to regulate the internet in their own country and getting into disputes with Google makes me laugh long and hard.

Seems to be a serious problem but instead of trying to find solutions like better health care and education on safe sex practices, blame the Internet.

Maybe if they only allow porn where they practice safe sex?

The situation is clearly getting out of control. what are we supposed to do though, not let our children use the internet? How, then, are they expected to compete with the technological world if they can't get the advantage from an early age?

Men and women meet regardless of the internet, and have been doing so for years. Just like they've been having sex. Meeting online in no way makes you more likely to get knocked up. Not using birth control is what leads to pregnancy. Duh. Of course this is obviously some whacked out scare tactic by the Chinese, who already over-regulate the internet.

Some people prefer the see through cover on their keyboard but I think that takes away the sensitivity.
