I think it is safe to shop online at trustworthy sites. Before I buy anything, I check around. So far, I've not had any problems.... except a couple times on ebay I did not get sent the items I paid for, so I just filed a complaint.

Yes it is safe. However , you have to see , whether the seller is reliable or not.some good points by moderator though.

I think if you go for the established, bigger stores you will be fine. Sometimes I order from smaller stores but I never place a huge order unless I know the company is reputable. That usually means an established domain and a phone number I can call to speak to someone should there be a problem.
I would be careful is buying on eBay though. I know there are a lot of legitimate sellers on there and you can look at the feedback and so on but I've heard a lot of stories of sellers with a lot of feedback and established accounts just dissapearing with outstanding orders.
I like sites like Amazon, Tiger Direct and Buy.com, all of which are big, well established sites.

I do it all the time from reputable sites. I always check the seller's feeback from other buyer's though.
I love music. The "real" record stores of the past are gone driven out of business by chains like best buy and circuit city and online downloads. Alot of these stores will only carry what's popular and what they predict will sell. So I'm forced into buying from Amazon or Cd Universe.

I have tried buying products online, a laptop bag which I have seen on a multiply page. I've read comments and testimonials about the seller then contacted her. Our transaction went smoothly, so its a good experience plus that fact that I love the bag!

I rarely buy stuff online, but if I do, I only buy from respected brand websites, such as eBay. I wouldn't recommend pulling out your credit card for any sites that nobody you know has successfully purchased from.

I've bought from ebay and up until lately no issues. I say lately because I bought a DVD box set of a tv series that is not new and cannot be played on my DVD player properly and that is now how it was advertised. I have still continued to buy from ebay, no issues. I also buy from smaller online retailers and larger ones. There is always recourse if you buy with a credit card by getting your credit card company invovled. But no matter what it is always 'buyer beware'.

Sometimes if your credit card company is not providing safety on eBay than there are some chances of fraud...might be misuse of your credit card .
At the time of buying you need to provide security number.
So, it is sometime not safe. but it's not possible for me to stop buying items online.
Hope u will get my point.
thank u.

Yeah its more or less safe however it must be on a secure server url. don't forget about the fraudsters and the hackers who can steel details from an unsecured site.
