Erm, Luckyman, that's the wrong browser to be testing your sites with... you should design it testing with Firefox as that is the browser that is 100% compliant with hte W3C rules... you're doing that wrong IMO...

I check my sites in IE 6, 7 and Firefox. You can't go wrong.
I would like to point out the fact that when you are developing websites for ordinary people, most of them use IE, so if you had to pick I would always conform to IE first.
Firefox is used widely my the more computer savvy community, which are not the people we work for.
Rebellion is what drives Firefox! That's not a bad thing.

Don't forget Safari... or you can test on Konqueror if you are in Linux and don't have Safari. (Same HTML rendering engine.)

I don't know what the benefit of Safari is, but many people use it. If you are building a site for a client who uses Mac/Safari and the site doesn't look good in Safari, the client isn't going to be happy.

I use Firefox because I find much easier to use than IE. (It's also standards compliant, so when I make websites, I code for it first, then try to add workarounds for stuff that doesn't work on IE). Firefox is very extensible, and that alone is already a very compelling reason to use it, from the perspective of a web developer as well as a regular user.
I haven't come across any evidence that says IE is more secure than FF, so I'm not quite ready to believe that. The only complaint I have against FF is it can have a pretty large memory footprint as you go along using it. FF3 looks to resolve that.

Firefox is more secure than IE because it doesn't use Active X and is not integrated into the core of the operating system.
Read more about it here:
"The US Government has sent out a warning out to internet users through its Computer Emergency Readiness Team (US-CERT), pleading users to stop using Microsoft’s Internet Explorer."

That's exactly what I mean. All evidence points to IE being less secure than FF. It's only popular because people in general already have it on their PCs that ship with Windows... and most regular users don't want to be bothered with downloading FF.

I agree that Firefox is more secure and I have been a happy user for some time. I switched over when I read somewhere that IE cannot prevent phishing sites from appearing, don't know if it has been fixed?

I use Firefox but I have Safari and Internet Explorer for testing purposes, Firefox is nice because it is customizable, you can get addons and themes etc. Also it seems faster then IE and Safari. Tabs are a great addition as well.

Firefox is better. But you still probably want to leave IE installed. You can't download microsoft updates on firefox. And some websites (very few) don't display correctly in firefox and/or let you do downloads. But firefox is definitely better.
