Need help hooking up NES to computer

I would like to be able to play my old Nintendo games on my computer. While my original NES system has long since died, I did last year acquire a new machine that will play all of my old games (yay!). It has one audio out and one video out (white, yellow) jack. So I can hook it up to my TV with no problems.

For my desktop PC, I have the WinTV PVR 2 thing. I have my cable TV hooked up to it, and have really only used it to record TV programs, or watch TV on my computer. It has a/v in, and s-video in.

I would assume then I could just hook up the console right to that, right? Ok, so I have done that. But where I am lost is how to select the video source. When using the TV functions, I've just used the Media Center thing that came with the computer, and as far as I can see... there is no option there to switch to another video source.

So, do I need some other program that would allow me to select another video source? I think the WinTV thing came with a cd with some programs, but I installed them at one point, and didn't see where I could do it. Obviously there has to be some way to do it, otherwise, what would the point be of the a/v in on the WinTV device?

Argh. So has anyone successfully done this before? If so, can you tell me what I am doing wrong?

I have a nice 22-in. monitor, and would really like to play my games on here. I have a plasma TV, but because of how the old NES games are, I am worried about burning and don't want to ruin the screen, so I won't hook it up to that.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

Hi Julie,

Could you hook up the NES to a jack/scart converter? i.e. it's a little bit of kit you plug the audio/video jacks into, and it turns them into a scart lead.

I'm not well up on US systems, but it might help.
