Backups

Do you do backups? Are they automated? How often?

I've been tar'ing, gzip'ing, and scp'ing my files to a local server on occasion. I was somewhat surprised to discover that my cPanel configuration does that as well. I was hoping for something more sophisticated.

I backup every couple of weeks to an external drive, however, we just started using CARBONITE last month and love it.

RAID the two drives so that they are exact mirror copies working in the same system and also an external backup JUST for data.

At least if one drive goes down, the other can carry on perfectly well and if they both blow out (one unlucky dude if that happens) then you have all your data backed up externally.

That said, I only use my system for Solitaire

I do backups whenever I think of it... Annually sounds about right.

Well, It's been a long time since my last back up, reading this thread just made me remember
I do back ups when ever I remember it

For my hard drives I use Norton GHOST. For my webstores, I use the cPanel, saving the MySql database and the main directory.
