XP SP3 - Delayed
Microsoft has decided to delay the last service pack for Windows XP. According the the article at Computerworld, the delay is caused by a compatibility issue between the POS (Point-of-Sale) application for some retailers and the operating system....

Running XP SP3 and no issues. In fact, it has improved my loading time, application loading and fixed my Limited no Connectivity issue with my wireless every time I boot up. Worth the upgrade and MUCH better than SP2
Great links btw guys.

My automatic updates just popped up with it. So it's an official release now.
Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) is an update to Windows XP that addresses key feedback from our customers and is a cumulative update that includes all previously released updates for Windows XP, including security updates. Windows XP SP3 contains a small number of new updates and should not significantly change the Windows XP experience. After you install this item, you may have to restart your computer.
More information for this update can be found at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936929

Windows XP Service Pack 3 final
Yes, it is final, downloadable from Microsoft Update and it can be installed even with IE 7 (IE 7 had issues on beta versions of SP3).

We have experience with both XP & Vista and there is not even a question - Vista is a HUGE disappointment
Memory hog if there ever was one and every user we know has had the same experience
Any knowledgeable systems/network pro recommends NOT upgrading
This is not a cost issue - pretty ridiculous to state that must be people's concern
Even Steve Ballmer has said he is open to extending the time frame
Dell has even made the decision to sell you the Vista as they will have to follow MS's guidance but provide the buyer a downgrade to XP
That way if they ever get Vista right the buyer can choose to upgrade at no cost

I hear XP SP3 causing the reboot while any problem happens with booting. Are you experiencing anything like that?

I have used both and kinda liked them both for different reasons. I ran both with 2 gb ram and it worked fine. Unfortunately, I had Vista Ultimate Edition on an HP laptop and the motherboard died on me in 8 months after I bought the laptop fresh out of the store. Needless to say, HP is not what I will be looking for in the future.

It seems to be pretty stable so far. I'm recommending it for many of my customers.

Well, it happens and can happen to any computer or brand-name computer. Don't you have the warranty?

Yes, I do have the warranty. I was going to send it in, but did some research on this particular model and saw that a few thousand laptops under this model # all have this problem. I read the horror stories about how they sent them into HP, got them back 3 weeks later and the laptops still had the same problems. HP has admitted this manufacturers error but is not offering a solution to the problem. Yes, you can send it back in to them for repair, but from what I was reading from all the people that did, they either got them back still not working or they did work for a few weeks and then the same problems occurred. So what would be the best course of action besides just going to the store and buying a new one but with a different brand name?
