Adsense gives sites a pop?

I've noticed some dramatic changes lately to the serps for my phrases. Last November, it was the directories that took over. Now it's sites with adsense, which are sometimes just a collection of links and ads. Directories with adsense are like dogs with bees in their mouths, unbeatable.

I hope you are right. But remember that sites with AdSense meet Google minimum standard to be in there, so there is something to be said about that.

Otherwise, I don't think Google would intentionally give sites with AdSense a pop. That's unethical, a conflict of interest, and will deteriorate the SERP quality.

I think it's very obvious that sites with adsense ads are getting pushed to the top. When I look at the top sites for various competitive phrases, I'm consistently seeing spam sites with adsense ads.

They have said repeatedly that AdSense and their search database our completely seperate and never the twain shall meet. I tend to beleive them since their entire image and fortunes are based on the credibility of their search results. There is no positive that could come out of giving a push to AdSense users that would outweight the catastraphic negatives if people found out about it.

Also, as Pinyo said, just to be accepted into AdSense means that you meet the minimum requirement for Google. So there may be some correlation but there is no causation.

Thats because the sites with adsense get good money due to holding a high competitive phrase and thus will do everything to stay in the high positions.

The serps changed quite a bit on Friday and I noticed that the vast majority of the top sites have adsense. The databases being separate is irrelevant. A website that has adsense will show it in the html and if google's ranking software is set to weight it favorably, it can and I suspect is doing just that.

no way. lots of those directories are complete garbage. here is how they waste everybody's time.

- every added site is a reciprocal link or paid for
- they run sitewide text link ads for things like "payday loans," "PILLZ," and other high margin businesses
- they XML backfeed PPC listings from an engine such as searchfeed or revenue pilot
- they also run adsense

no reason to boost big and gross greed networks.

if google loses search relevancy to sell more ads then they lose their customer base and they go under.

I agree, and a bunch of sites have static search engine results pages that are showing up in searchs with Adsense. There's nothing worse than getting the info you just saw, with a different layout
