Multiple Adsense/page!

Not sure if anyone else noticed this, but Google has finally allowed us to place up to 3 adsense ad layouts per page.

Quote:
Multiple ad units

To provide even more value to your users, and to help you further monetize your web pages, we're allowing publishers to place up to three ad units on every web page. Our system will automatically recognize the additional ad units, and will serve unique ads to each. Your ad units can each have different color palettes, formats, and alternate ad URLs, providing you with the flexibility you need to incorporate Google ads into your site design. Please read the Multiple Ad Units section of our FAQ for the full details.

LOL... exactly. Now I can run adsense as a default to banner ads on my site, without worrying about breaking the google tos.

Great to know. But does this really affect anything?

Yeah, it means you can put more ads on your page... the more ads you show, the more likely you are to get clicks = more money.

I doubt it, but your eCPM will be lower probably... I've gone with 2 on most pages now... you hardly notice the new ones, though... they're next to the quick reply in my phpbb forum

Why do you find adsense annoying? Usually they can be intergrated well into pages... I think they're great, both for the advertiser (adwords), and the publisher (adsense).

Oh at the minute i think they are great! It's a good deal for all - but the next level is 3 blocks on a page..... Then what? I just think like everything they will go to far.

Soon i'll be visiting pages that have 3 pop ups/unders - 3 adsense blocks, 3 banners, 30 text links .......

Wheres the actual content? Alright i'm a pessimist.

Yeah, obviously some people will take it too far... but in general, I think Adsense and similar type ads are a good inovation, not a bad one. If there become adsense pop-ups and what-not, maybe I'll start agreeing with you...

Agreed. But it really depends on the depth and breadth of the page.

Yeah... if they can be integrated well, a lot of times, they're hardly noticable - the good thing about them is, if done right, they're no nearly as annoying and intrusive as traditional banner ads and pop-ups...

My guess is this will result in more clicks ... BUT ... since you are serving up the "second-tier" of Adwords results, they will be worth less so you cents/click-thru will probably go down.

an adsense block eh ? .. i think its kinda useless, since Textlinks are not annoying, it's those popups and banners that really annoy a user
