Adsense for Forums

For those of you that run forums and run adsense on your forums, do you notice how a lot of the ads that show up are related to your forum software? I'm guessing these show up mainly because of some of the code that is mixed in with the forum code, and think that, if there's a way around it, we would find higher CTR's if we got actual contextual ads to the content on our page instead of the code that makes up most of our page.

I frequently get ads like the ones below, and even if they were to default to generic photography ads instead of hosting or phpbb ads, it would help. Anyone else run into this? Any ideas to help remedy the issue?

I would get rid of this from "overall_footer.tpl"

Well the thing about forums is that if you look at the source code, the majority of it is links, and tables etc. That code above was pure text, so the adsense spider was eating it up like brownies

hypothetically you could also add some

<!------
START PHOTOGRAPHY SECTION 1
// -->

type tags to separate your sections, but I'm not sure if that would help.

I was thinking as I was driving home, if the stuff above that I removed was being spidered and influencing ads on my pages, wouldn't it go to assume that if I put in some keywords in it's place, I would get more targetted ads, or is that a no-no?

Thats kinda what I posted in message #4. I would do it if it helps you with organizing your html code, and not just for Adsense..if you know what I mean

I do pretty well with the ads in the forums. But I found I get a higher CTR by making them stand out. So I use bright yellow backgrounds..
