Adsense, placement really does matter.
Didn't like how I was doin with AdSense. I had the ads in the footer so it won't look bad. Moved them up to the header, now I have tripled my CTR and quadrupled my $$ / day.
Good Stuff

Above the fold does seem to work the best.

Pimpen, that's pretty funny as I was just about to post the same thing. I moved my ad to the header this morning and ive already made a ton more money than I made in a week with ads just in the footer.
Great minds think alike.

They sure do!
I actually meant to post this yesterday, but this "great mind" forgot
I'm happy I moved it up because I was planning on taking adsense off my site and getting regular advertisers.

Ran by your site and "happened to click" on one of your ads....
I'm amazed that one little placement change helped me/you/us out so much. My pages only have about 1 fold on them, and I didn't see much reason to move the ads up. Nobody clicks the ads anyway, right? I guess I see now.

Do you know if Google's impression count is counted just once per 2 ads on a page?

Thanks, I won't ( ) do the same...
My impressions went up so whatever the impressions are divided by the number of ads on a page...

Placement, coloring used can make a huge difference. Adsense seems to be the best program out there.

Yah color helps too, when you make it look like the BG...

Hmm, ive found best results by setting off-background colors. Helps users to better see the ads.

But this way they think it's part of the site and click on it to read more...
I'll have to do a test on that too...

I tested that out on a couple of sites and making the links look like they were part of the site did increase my ctr. I'd be interested to see what others find.

I guess it all depends on the amount of content. Blending won't do **** to a site streaming video.

Where is the “fold” these days !?
It depends on the site but I find top banners don’t work on my site with a typical CTR of 0.5% and the footer banner (below the fold) gets 0.9%. The best banner for me is the side banner with 1.2% CTR.

I haven't tried side banners yet. I think incorporating ads on the top of the content area works well, then again at the bottom...
