Tax forms for Adsense

Hi,

I have a forum which I was thinking of using Adsense with in the future but I noticed that I need to supply a Tax form to Google as this is new policy (im in UK). I don't employ anyone especially in the US but I do obviously have members from the US who post on my site...So can I choose to be Foreign publisher with no U.S. Activities ? Any guidance would be great, thanks

Scooby

PayPal is a U.S. company I think, which operates in the U.S. so it would probably be considered as U.S. activities.

Woohooo! I believe I will take credit for Google clarifying their terms. When their tax terms first came out they were ambiguous about what constitutes a US presence. I had some correspondence with them and suggested the revised line quoted above. Now there it is, word-for-word.

No doubt I wasn't the only one suggesting something like this but that won't stop me claiming credit

We all like to think we can make some little difference. Even if I'm deluded, I'm happy thinking it

Thats seems to settle the case for Paypal/Adsense, but will the EU VAT for online services still bite you for using Adsense or PayPal?

This is an EU customs regulation which says in essence that foreign sites selling electronic goods or services into the EU are required to collect and pay EU VAT.

The last time I checked, the downloading of software and provision of financial services was considered as being covered. For instance sites which sell software by downloads have started deducting the EU Vat from the proceeds paid to the customer.
