AdSense: "Advertise on this site"
Anyone alse not happy about this new link on Google ads. I don’t like the idea of potential advertisers will go direct to AdSense and that is now 2 free links to Google.
I can’t do without AdSense since the other ad publishers are rubbish including and especially Overture based companies.

It's annoying - one more free ad for Google.

Agencies pay around £**** for less than 1 month. AdSense pays around £200 for 1 month.
p.s the link is still there though I set it to be removed in the settings.

I thought the "Advertise on this site" was so that advertisers could request to specifically advertise on THAT website... not Google in general. So what's wrong with this?
If you don't like the payout, then don't use it all.
PS- you have to update the code in all your pages for it to work. updating it at the adsense site doesn't do anything but generate code for you to insert into your pages.

It is just to sign up for Adsense, not specifically your website.
And, there is no payout for referrals.

I don’t think I have made my point clear. I do like the revenue however we all get a much better deal if they come direct to us. We dont get direct advertisers all the time so need AdSense.

I got this email from Google a while back.
Onsite Advertiser Sign-up
Earlier this year, we launched site targeting, a new way of targeting ads to sites in the content network, that offers advertisers more flexibility and publishers more ad inventory. To make it easier for more advertisers to create ads targeting your site, directly from your pages, we are introducing the Onsite Advertiser Sign-up feature.
When you use Onsite Advertiser Sign-up, your ad units will display an 'Advertise on this site' link that guides advertisers to create a Google AdWords ad automatically targeted to your site, and your site alone. You can customize the landing page advertisers view when they sign up so that it features your logo and communicates important details about your site . By allowing advertisers to create ads targeting your site precisely at their moment of interest, Onsite Advertiser Sign-Up helps create greater demand for your ad space, and more revenue for you.
To learn more, you can take a tour of Onsite Advertiser Sign-up. Your ad units will automatically take advantage of this feature, but if you'd prefer not to participate, you can opt out by updating the settings on your 'My Account' tab.

Maybe you have to put new code in again which doesn't really make sense since the link showed up by itself in the first place.
Give it a few hours, maybe it'll kick in.

imagine - thank you for educating everyone and confirming my thoughts on the link - its to advertise on your site, not just sign up for adsense.
DOS - If you want to change your ads you have to manually alter the code on each of your pages. He probably wasn't aware of what he was selecting when he first set up adsense on his site - the link doesn't just show up unless its in the code. Anyways, u have to do it yourself, Unless of course you've devised some kind of program to automatically do it for you, which isn't likely.

No need to change ad code. The link has now gone. It appears automatically on every ad by default as of a specific date.
When I removed the link CTR went up as much as 20% as everyone ales has been saying on Webmaster world. Now tell me Google are doing it for my sites benefit!
I am so angry I was meant to sign off a critical domain name for Google for free… the form is currently filed away in the bin.

I don't mind at all. Another way to look at it is that you're getting more relevant ads (from competitors). And the minimum bid for site-specific ads, I believe, is $0.25.
