Adsense clicks!
I have had over 20,000 impressions of my adsense links but only 54 clicks!!! Would anybody recommend any ways I could integrate adsense better to help with the clicks? Maybe this sort of conversion rate is normal but it sounds poor to me.
Thanks

Adsense clicks depend on a lot of things, keywords used , the sites target market, position of the ads . The best place to start would be to go to google and look at the "heat map" which shows you the best place to place the adverts.. hope that helps

*chuckles*
Sorry, I had to.
I agree, work with the "heat map", integrating colors and integrating the ads into your design.
Also, you could do something entirely different, say...sell banner ads on a per impression basis?
How long did it take you to get that many impressions? I would think that after like 10,000 you would be dissappointed..

I've had a look at the heat map and it looks like my ad being in the menu on the left hand side isn't perfect. Obviously getting ads in the main area of the page would improve the clicks but i've got to find a way of doing this without damaging the look of the website too much.
Those 20,000+ impressions where over the last 2 months or so but will be increasing as more visitors come to the website. I think i'm right in saying out of all impressions I am getting a 0.27% click through rate based on 20,000 impressions. Nevermind impression i'll be in depression soon

Consider having a normal adbox. I don’t like being tricked into thinking that is content, so when some one click’s on the Google Ad box they will not click on the advert. Generally experiment every 2 weeks

ditch the one in the menu... Most people never fall for that enough to click and click again after they realize they are taken to a google page full of ads. (as your data has shown)
Look at my attached image. Add in two 468x60 banners and a skyscraper on the right. Be sure to blend the colors to match your sites colors... no borders.

gotta imbed
I agree with JuggoPop, those are good placements. I have also had great success with an SSI that I put site wide and differant placements can be tested in the flick of a mouse. It has the text wrapping around it and its floated over to the left. Depending on the layout sometimes deadcenter below the title works best.
I like the big box best, its seems to do better than longer banners.

yeah you could replace the top banner with one of the boxes and have it float left with a style tag... that would put it right in the hottest "hotspot".

Andrew,
Without seeing your website, its very difficult to figure out why you are getting such low CTR.
Follow the normal tips like blending your ads with the content, adsense above the fold etc.
Also, not all topics get high CTR... if you are targetting very tech-savvy users, then your CTR would always be low. Tell me how many time you click on adsense ads on others website .... so CTR depends on the niche category also.

I have put a 468x60 adsense banner on the homepage as in the graphic kindly done for me by JuggoPop.
How come it is not displaying properly on my website? I have selected no border but it has a border around some of it and I also its not showing properly on the page.
Very frustrating

I would change the title color to match your links though.

Thanks for that, I had noticed it. I have now changed the link colour and it does look a lot better and more integrated with my website.
I will make sure to let you know if my revenue increases as a result of everyone's help and advice
Thanks

good post JuggoPop.. helps me get a feel for adplacement.. what works and what doesn't.. Really too bad though, because advertising space takes away from the design of the site.. and I guess if it didn't then it wouldn't get noticed.. and not generate clicks.
So.. ironically.. a perfect adsense site would attract tons of people who don't quite find what they are looking for, but click on adds to find it? lol
Andrew.. please post if it makes a noticable difference.

Thanks for the great help I have received in this post and I am already getting more clicks already. I can't seem to get the skyscaper setup on the right-hand side as suggested by JuggoPop, but i'm sure I will figure that out.
Thanks Again

Thanks for the advice. Can you expand on that as I thought the ads blended in quite well already with regard to colour?
