Yes, According to the program policies located here:
https://www.google.com/adsense/policies?hl=en_US
You cant make any clicks from your own IP. Actually they dont like two things, one is Porn Contents and Another one is Illegal clicks.

Clicking own ads goes to Click Fraud. So it is always better to get it be avoid.

Where did you hear this? As the others said any of your own clicks are against the TOS and you could face a ban.

Yeah I'm interested to know what site told you that? Most advert companys don't allow you to click your own adverts. This is mostly because publishers will just click it for the money and not actually care about the site they visit. This means the advertiser has to pay for your click even though they will not get any sort of sales out of you.

I am a bit interested in this thread, because occasionally a AdSense link will show up on my site that genuinely interests me. I can think of a few occasions where I was disappointed because I couldn't click my link

I had a pretty humorous AdSense link on my site the other day. My forum is about marijuana and one of the AdSense links was...

Need joints?
Get 5" copper welding joints from www....

I got a laugh out of that one..

If memory serves, there're instructions on the AdSense site about how to find where an ad goes, because there are times like you describe, but also those times where an ad leads to a competitor, and you'd rather his ads not be displayed, so you need to know what that URL is so you can go block his ads from showing.

That's just silly. Think of it from the advertisers point of view. If you were paying $1 per click and all of your publishers click on your ad 12 times just for the money and were not interested in your site, then the end result would be that you would soon be facing bankruptcy.

So it's not alright and is against the TOS.
