Adsense experiment
In early June, I placed a few Adsense ads on my personal blog as an experiment. According to my stats, my average is about 5500 unique visitors per month.
After close to 4 months, I can report a total earnings of below $15 USD.
I know I've asked for tips before but I'm not sure it is worth the investment timewise.
Just wanted to share.

ok...are you using the MightyAdsense plugin? If not, you might want to consider it. Super easy to install and use.
What I noticed is that your adsense is only at the top. Yes that is a good place to start but honestly your visitors are coming there for content. So I would think placing some ads among the content would grab their attention AS they are reading.
good luck. It certainly doesn't hurt to try and make some money when you have the traffic.

sorry about that...was thinking it was your Motorcycle Journal. I guess I need more coffee before reading. But...that might help with adding between posts.

Yes, it is for my personal blog. For Motorcycle-Journal.com, the bulk of the earning is the forums and even that gets pretty low clickthrough for the traffic it gets.
We had tried putting the ads between the 1st and 2nd posts but that was worst...

sorry I can't be of help. it really seems pretty random. I have one site that gets a good 5% CTR and a minimum avg of $.37/clicks. and other sites that see a .005% ctr + .01 clicks.... I can pm you the links though if youd like to see the different sites and maybe you can draw your own conclusion.

Google Adsense has started to suck. I found too many complaints even at DigitalPoint.
I think.. BidVertiser is a lot better than Google Adsense in the current scenario. (its ads are slow in loading though). You can also try Clicksor.

ive tried bidvertiser, after a few days of 1 penny per click i took a walk. I'll sample them again as i have spare time, but im not sure. ppc seems to overwhelm my original goals. Freeking money rocks, i cant help myself.

Have you guys experienced Goolge's picture adverts? I read somewhere that Google pays less for the pic ads than the text ads. Is it wrong or what I read was right?
